Date: Wednesday, August 24, 2022
Time: 6:00 PM EDT (GMT - 4 hours)
Mode: Online (The meeting link will be made available after registration.)
PDUs: 1 Strategic PDU

In this presentation, we will focus on the daily flow of work against the backdrop of long-term improvements brought about by Project Managers. Often, operational managers are simply trying to survive a whirlwind of activity called a workday. At the same time, Project Managers are tasked with improving the overall operations. Though these two teams seek the same outcome, the focus required to accomplish the different roles can cause friction that may negatively impact the process we are trying to improve.

How can we bridge the gap between long-term solutions and short-term operations metrics? Can two teams of professionals really come together to benefit the overall mission? Bob believes the answer is a resounding YES, and he plans to show us how we can all be successful!

Learning Objectives
At the end of this webinar, participants will understand how to:

  • Reduce error and improve efficiency when sharing work between roles.
  • Be more aware of potential pitfalls and how to avoid them.
  • Balance OM (short-term) and PM (long-term) objectives.
  • Form better OM and PM relationships through a better understanding of both roles.

Speakers

Bob Johnston

Manager, Walmart Supply Chain

With thirteen years in Supply Chain Management, I learn something new every day because I wouldn’t have it any other way! I have been privileged to work and study beside some great leaders during my journey who have taken the time to show me the ropes in improving efficiency and quality in my departments. I am now a resource in my field for continuous improvement best practices.

I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. As a continual learner, I am always looking to retool and upgrade my skill set. To that end, I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership at the University of Oklahoma.

Public speaking has been a love of mine since my teenage years. I always enjoyed taking concepts and developing them in front of any audience. From daily startup meetings with my team to academic and professional presentations, I often have the opportunity to present topics of importance.
