Leadership is becoming ever more necessary in the Project Management world. This Workshop addresses some of the essential components of how to effectively influence people who do not report to you.

tom cooperGuest Speaker –Tom Cooper, Founder/Principal of BrightHill Group, will be presenting “Becoming a Person of Influence.”As project managers, we are all too familiar with the problem of beingaccountable for things where we don’t have any power, right? How much easier would it be if we just had the power to tell people “do it or else!”?The reality is that we don’t (and likely won’t) have the formal positional power to make people dothings.

In fact, even if we did, using positional power gets compliance, but not great performance. This is further complicated by the fact that most of us didn’t set out to be project managers – wewere experts in some other field when our boss said “I’d like to have you work on this projectmanagement thing ….”

In this workshop, we will be tackling some of the essential components of how to effectivelyinfluence people who don’t report to us. This is a highly interactive experience. When you walk out the door you will have specific, practical tools that you can immediately use toreduce stress, gain more cooperation from team members, and deliver projects on time and onbudget.

Workshop Speaker Bio

Tom Cooper,Founder/Principal of BrightHill Group, started his career as a computer science geek who fell intoproject management for a couple of decades leading softwareand technology initiatives in companies from startups to Fortune500 companies. During this time, he watched projects fail overand over again. Consequently, he searched for a reason for thesefailures, and discovered that it’s about people, not technology, systems, or business process. More than that, he found thateveryone can learn to influence others in a positive way.

Today Tom is a speaker, trainer, and coach helping clientsbecome more effective at influencing others. He wakes up everyday to encourage people to lead others better so that the peoplethey influence feel truly valued and perform at their best.
